att started his career in music when he picked up the saxophone at the age of 10 in order to join the school ensemble.  A few years later, Matt received a guitar for Christmas and instantly took joy in sitting down and learning his favorite songs by ear.  Through out high school, he spent his free time practicing both saxophone and guitar, pulling double duty by playing saxophone in the school ensemble, as well as playing guitar in the jazz bands of both high schools in his school district.  During his senior year, he decided that music was the thing that he wanted to pursue further education in.  He applied, and was accepted, to the State University of New York at Oneonta, in which he earned a degree in Music Industry with a minor in Audio Production.

During his years in college, Matt only performed with one band, which he formed his first semester of freshman year.  This band stayed together for all four years of undergraduate school, as well has 2 years post-college.  The band dispersed as the members grew apart due to personal obligations of school and work.  It was soon after this that Matt was contacted by fellow Cloud 9 member, Mac, to play two shows with the band, as their current bassist could not make either of the shows.  After some time and talks with the members of the band, Matt was taken on as the bands new full time bass player.
