Mac started out in music like most other kids do. In 4th grade he joined the Elementary School band. His instrument of choice was the Euphonium. After some years of playing, he needed something more in the music world so he picked up one of his father’s old guitars. Practicing nearly for 4 hours everyday, he soon became somewhat proficient enough to start playing in bands. His first band, formed so they could perform at his high school’s semi-annual “Coffee House” show, was called Out of the Blue. After high school, Mac attended State University of New York at Oneonta where he was a Music Industry major. He fell in love with the production side of music and took up the Audio Arts minor. Starting out with a 4 track tape recorder, he has been recording and producing music ever since. Mac played guitar in a number of bands while in college, The Morning Revival, The Suspenders, Gigolo Service, and MFU. All with very diverse sounds ranging from classic rock to punk rock. Mac made a guest appearance playing a set with local Oneonta punk band Nice Pipes. This would be the beginning of his musical relationship with Matt Monahan, current bass player in Cloud 9. After college, Mac was still playing with his band MFU, but happily accepted an offer to play in Cloud 9. While playing in Cloud 9, he was asked to fill a position as guitar player in Nice Pipes by Monahan. As Mac loves playing music to no end, he was happy to do Triple Duty in the music scene and play in all 3 bands simultaneously. However, after only playing a couple of shows, Nice Pipes dispersed and his tenure with MFU came to an end. In March of 2008 Cloud 9 began recording their first full length album EVOLUTION #9 in Mac’s home studio. He served as engineer and producer for the album and considers it one of his greatest and proudest accomplishments.
